Monaco Marine La Ciotat is creating a new area. Their words : "Thanks in part to the success of its flagship site at La Ciotat, (more than 100 yachts of over 40m serviced between May 2007 and January 2009), Monaco Marine continues to go from strength to strength. With a view to further expansion, Monaco Marine has been granted access, by Semidep, to a new area of 25 000 sq m located in the public zone. This area will be dedicated to refit and repair of yachts from 20 to 45m, offering 10 hard standing berths fully infrastructured for water, electricity, sewage evacuation, etc. Hauling out takes place from the 35m lifting basin (up to 11 metres beam and 6 metres draft), built in a protected location, and equipped with a 300 tons travelift. (...) The extension of this new activity by Monaco Marine will be operational mid 2009."

A major modification is under way in the shipyards of la Joliette in Marseille, France. A large shed is under construction near the numerous drydocks dedicated to the yachts. I have no detail for the moment, but the shed is impressive, with an approx. size similar to the one of MB92 in Barcelona, Spain.

Thanks to Monaco Marine for these pictures. Kiss The Sky was transfered with the Rexroth-cradle in the paint shed. And two hours after docking the yacht was already under washing HP.

A composite stratum will be added above the concrete very soon. Then a rail grid system will be fitted to move rapidly and easily the yachts from the 2000 tons lift to the work places. Yachts will be out of water in one hour, and they will be ready for the work in three hours.

According to the French newspaper "La Provence", the shipyard will start slowly its activity. Three yachts together in a first time, following by eight yachts, to end at thirteen yachts after some months. 75 employees will work in the yard, and approx. 300 subcontractors will participate to the project.

The Monaco Marine building of La Ciotat is also nearly finished. People were just working on the interior installation. Offices are in the glazed part on the top. Below you will find workshops and technical storages. And also an open space for the crew of the yachts under maintenance.

The "fight" between maintenance yards in Med is continuing. Here is the new paint shed in La Ciotat. The work is nearly finished on it. The door was added five days ago. It can accommodate a yacht of 80 metres max. The shed has a length of 90 metres, a height of 27 metres and a beam of 17 metres.

It seems that MB92 is lengthening her paint shed. A new jetty of 45-50 metres was recently built. Some shed superstructure elements are on the ground of the yard. And a large crane is present to fit them together. We can imagine that the shed will be finished for the spring...
