SUD - was built By Fratelli Rossi in 1999 - a yard in Viareggio that builds hulls for many yards including Codecasa. She is 38.85 meters and a beam of 7.21. draft 2.8. The garage is fantastic. She is currently in Monaco.

Sud was designed by Studio Faggioni, see renderings of her at http://www.studiofaggioni.com/... She was indeed 35 metres originally and her beam is 7.20 metres. Displacement 150 tons. She was launched in 1999 (at least that is the year on the designers website). I hope this casts some light on the mystery.

Sud was launched in 1998 in Lusben Craft (Now Benetti Azimut service departement). She had problems with the garage from the beginning. Was not buit by Benetti but the designer was one of the crew of old Benetti yard. They decided to modify the stern in 2003, they started in sept. 04 in Benetti Shipyard (but the job has not been done by Benetti). She was 34.9 mt long now is about 38.

Thanks to this new info I found out some more. I found information that a former crew member had worked on her from 1997 until 2001, which could indicate that she could be older than 1999. He also told about a length of 39m, so maybe her new length is around 44m. If I look at the picture I also think she is somewhere around 44m.

Hot news about Sud! The yacht is now 5 meter more than last year. The builder is MB Benetti, a branch of the famous Italian yard. Now the bigger branch is property of Azimut Group, but many years ago the Benetti family was divided in two : Benetti and MB Benetti. The first was involved only for yacht and sailing yacht constructions, and the second for merchant ship, supply and particular vessel. Sud was built with tanker philosophy, and she have a very complex ballast system like a chemical tanker. That's her particularity.

Sud is a real mystery. Few details are known about her. We think that she was built by an Italian yard in 1999. Her original length should be 35m. It seems that she had a stern modification before this summer...
