By Boccaccio, a Dutch spotter.

Utopia remained orphan one year after her launch. Indeed this yacht was for sale following the death of her owner, sadly deceased before the end of her construction. The choice of the designer (Michael McQuiston) as some details (the shape of the portholes of the full-beam section of the main deck) let to us think that the largest Feadship ever built would have to be called Katrion, third of the name. Feadship decided to christen her Utopia.

The lower deck aft contains a very large toy garage, suitable for several wave-runners, a smaller tender and various water toys. A corner of this space is dedicated for dive equipment storage. Further forwards are two 8.5m tenders, one on each side of the yacht and the engine room is located towards the centre. Beyond are two guest twin cabins with a full bath and a direct connection to the crew quarters. There is a crew boarding room and a pantry on port side, the crew mess is located starboard. Eight crew cabins fill the bow; six double and two triple, all ensuite. The laundry room and freezers can be found in the under lower deck, as well as the engineer?s workshop. Keeping in mind the perfect Feadship finishing, the wine storage room is no surprise.

The main deck aft provides a generous alfresco dining area, served by a large buffet bar. This buffet is built in between the two supporting pillars for the deck above. There is a direct connection to the swim platform, using the two beautiful symmetric stairs. The main salon has a very formal layout with a seating area on each side of the yacht. Further forward is the dining room with a dining table suited for 14 guests. Following a corridor, one comes to the main entrance, which features a spectacular staircase. A guest twin cabin can be found starboard beyond the entrance, and two queen guest suites are located to the front. These three cabins also have full bath. On port side one finds the galleys (two of them), pantries and a very large refrigerator space.

The middle deck aft again has an alfresco dining area with accompanying buffet bar, but in contrast to the main deck which features a built-in small seating area, there is a sun chair area with room for a coffee table on the aft part of the deck. The sky lounge is a less formal guest area, equipped with a bar, coffee table and a lounge salon. A pantry and separate crew passage can be found port side, a guest passage on starboard side leads to the main staircase. Forward is a multifunctional room, which is ideal for a gym. To enter the forward facing owner?s stateroom, one proceeds throughout the study room/office. Unlike what is expected on a yacht this size, there is only one master bathroom. There is a small private galley past the wardrobes. The master stateroom features a breakfast table; lounge chairs and has a private deck with seating and a whirlpool.

The bridge deck obviously has the bridge with guest seating forward, a ship?s office and captains cabin, separate guest and crew passages, a concierge room and a video/audio room. The helicopter platform that can accommodates helicopters as large as a Bell 427 is aft. There is equipment to maintain and refuel with a special fuel tank of 4,200 litre. There is also equipment for an outside cinema screen on this deck as well, where the heli platform can accommodate additional seats.

The sun deck features a whirlpool with built-in seating areas, a buffet and a sun bathing area forward. Both fixed and freestanding sun-beds are used in this location.

The main materials used on board are oak, olive and walnut wood, and many types of marble for the bathrooms and main entrance. The furniture is modern classic, with a large emphasis on comfort. Especially the custom designed playful lamps introduce a more informal feeling. The carpets that are being used are beige/gold and brown coloured. The deck furniture is like the deck itself made from teak wood.
