By Johan, a Swedish spotter.

Keewaydin was launched in 1995 as Nazenin III for an experenced Turkish yachtsman. She replaced a 76 footer of the same name, also built by Palmer Johnson and designed by John Alden. Built for world cruising she is notable for having the sole helm station indoors, with that exception, she is very traditional.

Her layout follows the tradition ; the five crew members are accommodated in the bow section in three cabins. Next, there is the galley and crew mess followed by the saloon midships (with the engine room beneath it). Aft of the saloon are two twin bedded guest staterooms and filling the stern section is the owners stateroom with a study area and twin beds, separated by a sofa. As a practical touch, the beds in the owners stateroom can be tilted 20 degrees to either side by means of hydraulic rams for passagemaking.

John Munford designed the interior in his trademark tradional style using a lot of wood with fine detailing. On deck, she was built with two davits where her tender could be hung over the stern in good weather, in bad weather the tender could be moved to the uncluttered aft deck.

Her current name, Keewaydin (pronounced "giiwedin") means "north wind" in the Ojibwe language (spoken by first nation people from parts of Canada and USA).
