455 is expected this evening or tomorrow at Flushing and will be put on a pontoon and transported into the shed using a lorry like her sister 454. Deniki (451) arrived earlier this week at the Amels yard. It looks like she's in the shed.

According to Lloyd's Register the name of the yacht is Were Dreams. Previous names Amels Schelde 453 and Amels 453. Sunrise must have been a project name - it was never officially registered. The yacht's IMO number is 1009467. Call sign PC8995. She is of Cayman Islands registry. Class status is "contemplated" meaning that Were Dreams will be classified with Lloyd's Register.

Posted by Wim | 03/08/2008 @ 12:00 | Reply

It's still weird, on AIS she indeed shows up as Were Dreams but if you take the effort of tracking the MMSI number of her AIS transponder you'll see that this MMSI number is indeed registered to Sunrise. However, entering the name into your AIS transponder is a manual thing I suppose :-)

Were Dreams MMSI number begins by 245... Note that a 245 MMSI number is Netherlands so Sunrise might be the projectname and Were Dreams it's final name.

Posted by Castlerock | 03/04/2008 @ 22:45 | Reply

Or Sunrise was the build name? Interesting but there are not quarter boards with the name on the side so maybe just the project name for the sake of the sea trials until the yard turns her over to the owner. The name looks like cheap sticky vinyl letters.

Posted by Yachtspotter | 03/04/2008 @ 22:35 | Reply

Really interesting, we were all wrong. Her AIS transponder showed this name since the launch. But we thought this name was wrong, and the real one was Sunrise.

The hatch shown on the picture indeed gives access to the sundeck, but before it can be operated, the bulwark door (also on the picture) must be opened outwards. Both door and hatch are operated and locked by airpressed cylinders and the hatch is sealed with an inflatable airseal. This is the only way up to the sundeck.

Lady Anne features in every mags this month. Even if her layout is still unknown, it's nearly possible to know everything about her. Nevertheless a detail remains a mystery for me, a detail on the sundeck which looks like a hatch (see picture), certainly to give an access to the top deck. Any more details?

There is a new pc game on the market called Ship Simulator 2006. In this game a yachtdesign of Amels-Holland is used. The yacht was ment to be newbuild nr. 450 and should have been named Silver. This order is cancelled, as far as I know. This would have been the biggest Amels yacht so far, around 85 meters. Also take a look at the demo movies of the game on the bottom of the webpage : http://www.shipsim-secure.com/...

Posted by Marc | 12/09/2005 @ 09:45 | Reply

According to "de Schuttevaer" (Dutch magazine) from saturday 26 nov 2005. I will give a short report of the article :

"Lady Ann costs Damen (Amels) lots of money"
"The bad bargain can rise to more than 10 million Euro. This can happen if the owner gets permission by the court of justice in Leeuwarden, to finish the yacht in Hamburg. The owner has no trust in Amels anymore, because of the list with complains he has. The yacht was towed to Harlingen after Feadship De Vries bought the Makkum yard. The price of the yacht was about 45 million Euro, and the owner just paid 38 million Euro. He also claimed 2.7 million Euro because of the delays. If the court of justice in Leeuwarden allows the finish of the yacht in hamburg, Amels will have to pay for the costs."

Hello Wim, you're right, Aidre stood a long time in the Amels yard. I don't really know the history of this name, but I think that it's nearly similar with the Feadship Utopia. The yard gave this name in waiting of a purchaser. Now the yacht is renamed Radiant. She was on the Riviera this summer.

Your website is great! It's always impressive to see the yachts before their final stages. And I think that you have the first picture of the 58m Amels designed by Andrew Winch : http://www.maritimephoto.com/...

I'm a maritime photographer near Flushing (indeed at the Amels yard) and I photographed a couple of the Amels yachts while arriving as hull of while leaving after being delivered.

While searching for info on Amels #441 I came across your website and read that #441 is known as Aidre and I was wondering if that was her intentional name or her final name because as far as I know she was at the yard for quite a while and even did her trials as #441 (although under Dutch flag).

The 65m yacht by Terence Disdale currently under construction at Amels will be the successor to Teddy. At the moment Amels has four large new building projects under construction. The first one will be the 68m Lady Anne for delievery this year, the 65m by Disdale and a 58m by Andrew Winch will follow in 2006. So far there wasnt much info about the fourth project but this must be the 75m Paraffin II which was already mentioned earlier.

According to the Repair & Refit reference list of Amels the first Tigre d'Or know Teddy is for the second time under refit at Amels. I don't know at which yard.

At Makkum are currently: Lady Anne under construction and I think Larissa is also inside. And Iluusion is for sure outside the yard under refit. At the Vlissingen yard are currently La Masquerade under refit or for some warranty work and I think Teddy is also there.

Does anyone know at which yard where the 58m Andrew Winch yacht is under construction and the 64.50m Terence Disdale?
