Elandess is launched. Attached you find an exclusive picture.

There was a model of a 60m yacht at the A&R booth on the boatshow in Düsseldorf. It looks very similar to the hull no 6482.

It looks like a sistership of Excellence III.

The quality is bad, but you can see the new hull no. 6482.

A new picture of A&R hull 6479 with open garage. Forward mast is in second function a crane.

Thanks Leveller. There are two glazed round structures on the sundeck, like on Eminence. I don't really know the purpose of each ones. It could be a shower, spa, stair or lift...

A picture of the new A&R taken in the lightly misty North German weather. There is something on the sundeck in front which looks strange. It has a white top and is blue underneath. Can this be an elevator or just something which is packed and will be put somewhere else?

Posted by Paul Walter | 11/14/2008 @ 12:00 | Reply

The sistership to Eminence should be called Blu Sky (at least for the moment). She is Hull No 6479.

A sister ship of Eminence was launched some weeks ago. The yacht is moored in front of the shipyard. Blue hull, white superstructure, and a different layout on the sundeck mainly due to a different mast. Some pictures soon.

Thanks Leveller, it will be interesting to follow her first sea trials. The yacht should be delivered at the end of the summer. The other yacht is Lady A (Intermarine 1998), a surprise to see her at A&R.

The new A&R Silver Cloud was launched today. Her SWATH-hull looks really interesting. Sorry, no photos yet.

When I was in Lemwerder two days ago, Eminence came back from her sea trials. Did anyone make some photos?

Posted by Yachtspotter | 03/19/2008 @ 11:05 | Reply

Ok, thank you, it sounds logical with this inverted bow. Philipp, the photographer was taking pictures of the tender and not the yacht. But it's possible that A&R changed the deadline of the book to add a couple of pictures of the hull 6478...

That's one of the tenders for Predator at de Vries.

There is a new book exspected of Abeking & Rasmussen's history and 125 aniversary. I ordered an issue, it should deliver in January but they canceled this and said available in April. Maybe they will took some images of the new yacht (the biggest ever for A&R) in the book?

Posted by Yachtspotter | 03/18/2008 @ 20:45 | Reply

Thank you Fatboy. This tender is interesting, I have the feeling it has an inverted bow. Can you confirm it? I also remarked an interesting detail on your picture, there was an official photographer on another tender. Maybe for a future article...

Posted by Fatboy | 03/18/2008 @ 20:30 | Reply

In front of her a smaller boat did some trials. It could be her tender.

I've made some photos of the new A&R Eminence today. As you can see, the hull is sand-colored and the superstructure is white. Looks like the final paint...

Following the wishes of the yard, the picture of Eminence is removed from the website. Please, be sure that you have the permission to take a picture when you are in a shipyard. Thank you.

Yes, I also believe it's hull No. 6478, formerly Excellence IV. Probably this yacht then : http://www.reymondlangtondesign.com/... 78m and very nice looking. Classic clipper bow, no axes here!

I think so...

Thank you MD, Eminence is - as expected - really beautiful. I prefer this bow than the one of Aviva...

I wonder if hull #6479 is not Ultima IV as I read in a newspaper article (not very reliable) that the owner of Ultima III is building a new yacht. He seems to be happy with the builder - Abeking & Rasmussen and the designer - Donald Starkey as he has kept her for 9 years and if Hull #6479 is a Starkey design maybe it could be Ultima IV ?!...

Posted by Yachtspotter | 04/18/2007 @ 17:00 | Reply

Interesting point of view Maarten. Because with your proportions, we're reaching the ones of the future Excellence IV, with the only difference that Excellence IV will have a conventional bow.

Posted by Maarten | 04/17/2007 @ 15:50 | Reply

Instead of removing an entire deck (and lots of space), you could also add a couple of meters to her bow and stern, to make her look a bit faster... Still, she looks pretty perfect the way she is. I think she will be one of the most exhillirating launches we'll see all year! I can't wait to see more detailed pictures of her.

Posted by Yachtspotter | 04/15/2007 @ 21:55 | Reply

Funny and good idea! She looks like a commuter like that...

Just a little bit of Pshop on Leveller's picture to alter her top-heavy look...
Interesting to see what you think of this version :)

Thank you all of you, for your help! It was just a coincidence that I happened to check the webcam at exactly the right moment... The casco might be hiding in a shed by now. The new Aviva looks quite interesting, perhaps not a beauty. She looks top-heavy, but it is interesting to see some new thinking.

The casco yesterday was indeed Ann, she is scheduled for completion in 2008.
I think Zippie is right, I have the following hulls and names:
6478 – 78m Exellence IV
6479 – 78m Ann (not completely sure about her length)
6483 – 78m

Posted by Yachtspotter | 04/04/2007 @ 20:00 | Reply

Yes Max, this yacht is beautiful. Aviva enters at the 79th place of the Top 100. I'm curious to discover her!
Zippie, you're right, it's the hull 6479, a sister of Excellence IV.

Aviva III in front of A&R.

It won’t be Excellence IV as she is already being fitted out at the yard.
I believe there are three "Excellence" types on order.

Posted by Yachtspotter | 04/04/2007 @ 15:10 | Reply

According to what I saw, I think it's Excellence IV (or a sister)! I recognized the superstructure spotted below. And it seems that the last level of the yacht is not fitted for the moment...

Posted by Johan | 04/04/2007 @ 15:05 | Reply

I just checked the Vegesack webcam, and right then a new casco was towed in front of the cam. Talk about timing! Do you know anything about it, or perhaps someone else knows...?

Hot news : Aviva III is in the water. Must have happened yesterday!

Posted by Leveller | 04/02/2007 @ 21:05 | Reply

If it is for Exellence IV, than it is a Reymond Langton design. BTW, Lady Sheridan is now for a long time at A&R. She was scheduled to leave in February. Also Aviva is not out yet, she was scheduled for March. Does anybody know why they are late?

Posted by Paul Walter | 03/03/2007 @ 13:00 | Reply

The superstructure seems to be for the new Excellence IV under construction at A&R.

Posted by Maarten | 02/27/2007 @ 10:50 | Reply

I agree with Yachtspotter. It looks like a typical Starkey design. The lines of the superstructure remind me of Sarah, but with vertical bridge windows.

Posted by Yachtspotter | 02/25/2007 @ 20:00 | Reply

Thanks Leveller for the exclusivity. With this lines and design, it may be the work of Donald Starkey...

Today I was in Bremerhaven and spotted at the SSW - Yard (schichau Seebeck Werft) a superstructure. As a guess I would say Lürssen, Bounty Hunter, the structure is about 50 meters long and 8 to 9 meters wide.

Good find! This catamaran hull is very efficient against the swell. According to the documentation, the new Silver Cloud will be 10x more stabilized than the former one (the 43.5 metres Feadship, now renamed Kingfisher). It will be very interesting to see her in action!

Posted by Castlerock | 12/20/2006 @ 17:30 | Reply

The new SWATH design that Paul Walter spoke of in his previous post is the new Silver Cloud. It appears that she is for a New York Yacht Club member, with any luck we will see her in Newport : http://www.yachtsilvercloud.com

A&R contracted a 45m yacht for delievery in 2008. This yacht will be built on their proven SWATH design on which they build some pilot boats already (http://www.abeking.com/...). This kind of hull is very insensitive against heavy swell.
