55 kn topspeed - it seems that to go fast is not as easy as looks like ;-)

This photo was taken on the first day of seatrials at 50kts, which was the top speed target for that day.

We thought the launch went very well, without a hitch - there were no problems getting her off the slip; the time delay was to start and test the generators prior to full launch, exactly to schedule. With regard to her "late" delivery (mentioned 08/06/07), the vessel outline was changed in September 06 to include MCA certification - this added time to the project to cope with these changes.

Sea trials are under way with the yacht moving between a temporary berth at Orakei Marina and the yard. Unfortunately the weather has been very poor with high winds and rain.

Thank you very much for these first pictures! Ermis 2 is a nice project, I'm curious to discover her during her sea trials. Her card is in the database now : http://www.yachtspotter.com...

Note - photography was difficult as the yard is well secured and the only public access to the launch was from the opposite river bank which is some distance away. So the camera was at the limit of its zoom.

Ermis 2 was launched today Saturday at 8am NZT (GMT + 12 hours) on a bright sunny spring day at the McMullen and Wing yard on the Tamaki River in Auckland.

The launch was timed to coincide with the high tide, but at first there were difficulties in getting her off the launch platform as can be seen in the following photos. A delay of around one hour ensued while the tide rose a little further, before allowing the new yacht to float clear. With assistance from a small tug Ermis 2 was moved to her fitting out berth in front of the yard. In due course she will move down the river into the open sea for sea trials, which will be a spectacular sight given her supposed speed of around 60 knots.

Ermis 2 is now reported for launch in October - her owner is Greek. The yacht will spend the summer in NZ waters before being shipped to Europe in March 2008.

On their website they announce the launch of Ermis II for September. They also announce their next project : Big Fish. No more specification is known excepting her length of 45 meters. Her design reminds me VvS1, may be from Greg C. Marshall too. Link : http://www.mcmullenandwing.com/...

Ermis 2 is not due out of the building shed until late in the third quarter of this year. No explanation has been given for the very late delivery date compared to that previously published.

Still no sign of Ermis 2 emerging from the builders shed. Could be close as the doors have been closed for the past week or so.

With the new Yacht Express Dockwise ship due in Auckland at the end of July, I can well imagine that Ermis 2 is scheduled to make the north bound voyage to Europe on her.

The 122 foot, 60 knot plus Ermis 2 remains in the building shed - seems it has some way to go yet before we see her.

Has there been any news or photos of Ermis yet. Has she been launched?

I think we might have missed this new motor yacht scheduled for launch in 2007 here in Auckland. Ermis² is designed to reach 60 knots and will be the fastest non-turbine motor yacht in the world on launch.
