In the latest issue of Power and Motoryacht, in their World's Top 100 Yachts article, it was mentioned that a book chronicling Carinthia VII is being published. Admittedly, this seems strange, given her owner's dogged quest for privacy. Nonetheless, I want a copy. Does anyone have any info to offer regarding the publishing of this book?

Thank you so much for all your kind words. I cannot take all the credit for the book. Lulworth's owner invested a great deal of money and time into making this happen. The yacht's managers, Giuseppe and Elisabetta Longo, did a great deal. And the book designers did a fantastic job. I was also blessed to have met many people in England who were prepared to give me both their stories and their unpublished photographs. Lulworth truly inspires people!

If anyone wants to order the book directly through me, without having to open an account on the website, and/or have a signed copy, they can simply send an e-mail to info@sylulworth.com.

Dear Andrew, usually I don't post advertising on the forum. I do an exception with you, because there is no doubt that you're a real enthusiast (like us) for writing a book like this one. I have the chance to read it, and let me congratulate you for your job, it's a beautiful book!

We have to be honnest, some books published in the past and dedicated to a yacht were a bit disappointing. In the case of Lulworth you learn everything from the first launch, the first regattas, the refit, her life since the refit. Many beautiful pictures from the beginning of the past century to the last "Voiles de St. Tropez" last year, etc... On more time congratulation!

I added a picture of Lulworth taken during "Les Voiles d'Antibes" some weeks ago.

I see that Lulworth is often mentioned on this site. I am the author of the book that has just been published on this lovely boat. Here is the press release of the book :

"Lulworth: The Restoration of the Century" is a lavish 400-page book on the world's largest gaff cutter, built in 1920. Lulworth was re-launched to great acclaim in the spring of 2006 after a five-year restoration, and this brand-new publication documents in great detail her history and rebuild. There is also a stunning section covering Lulworth's first regatta season for eight decades.

The first edition of the book is strictly limited to 700 copies and looks set to become a collector's item among yachting connoisseurs. It contains hundreds of photographs, many of which have never been published before and offer a unique insight into life onboard a Big Class yacht in the 1920s. Dramatic artworks featuring Lulworth by famous painters such as Steven Dews, Roger Davis and Stephen Renard add colourful panache to the history.

"Lulworth: The Restoration of the Century" is written by Andrew Rogers, who previously authored well-received books such as "The Feadship Story" and "Iduna, the restoration of a classic Dutch yacht". In his research, Rogers tracked down the descendants of former owners of Lulworth in England and partnered with maritime historians to trace the families of crew from the 1920s. He also spent many weeks at the yard in Italy following the restoration at first hand, while a team of professional photographers captured every stage of the work. From the raising of the rudder to the stepping of the mast, the entire rebuild is explained in words and images.

Committed to sharing his slice of maritime heritage, Lulworth's owner allowed thousands of members of the general public to visit the newly restored yacht during the 2006 regatta season. In a similar vein, the first edition of "Lulworth: The Restoration of the Century" is being sold at half cost price in order to bring it within reach of a wider audience. Copies can be ordered for €125 from www.sylulworth.com

The first June stories have just been added and I think this one will be of interest. Even though Fuero C just falls short of 30 metres, in my opinion she is much more of a "real" seagoing yacht than some of today's offerings above that length : http://www.bymnews.com/...

February/March issue of Seaspray - at www.seaspraymag.com features Como and Bacchus both NZ builds. It would be fair to say that Como has a very modern - penthouse style interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon which is very impressive. Also her sun deck open bridge details are very interesting and an improvement on Ab Lib. As for Bacchus – a Sovereign Yachts build - the interior is very traditional American - i.e. without much design fair or anything very special, just a lot of polished wood - rather boring actually and very much an interior of 5-10 years ago in design terms.

I am wondering if any spotters can help me to get a definite list for all the issues of the Feadship Pilot magazine? They did not necessarily produce a magazine every year or every two years. So far I am aware of the following 12 issues : 2004/2005, 2003, 2001/2002, 1999/2000, 1998/1999, 1996/1997, 1995/1996, 1993/1994, 1992, 1990, 1989, 1986.

The October issue of Boat International exceeded the already high standards we are used to, it must be around 400 pages. Noteworthy is an onboard report of Kogo with many fine pictures. Also in this issue : Cambria II from Azzurra Marine, My Issue from Moonen, Happy Days from Delta Marine, Farewell from Southern Wind and JeMaSa from Hakvoort, plus an article about Nuvolari-Lenard. In addition to that is the supplement BI Interiors with an interview with Remi Tessier and articles about Phoenix, Oasis, Catwalk, Illusion, Talisman C, Seafaris and Clarena II. Value for the money indeed.

The German magazine Boote Exclusive has the bi-annual Top 200 list in the September-October issue, besides articles about Arcadia, Oasis and Lulworth.

yachtspotter.com was discussed in an article within the news section of Yachting World magazine, August edition.

Boat International, September edition, dropped through my letterbox with a thud this morning (big issue, must be 300 pages this month!) There is : Maltese Falcon (21 pages!), 18 page Monaco preview, progress report on Amels 171 Limited Editions, reviews of Kintaro, Wild Thyme, Seafaris.

Just noticed in The Superyachts volume 15 - 2002 on page 248/249 is a picture of the original design proposal from Feadship for Ecstasea. She finished up a "little" different that is for sure.

Also in The Superyachts volume 12 - 1999 on page 244 is Tim Heywood?s initial design for the replacement for Coral Island which became in due course Pelorus. You can see quite clearly from this many of the final design features that Pelorus now has - reverse sheer, funnel design, stern details etc.

Wow! I?ve just found The Superyachts Volume 1 and 3 in very good condition. Both feature very interesting yachts, such as New Horizon L, Le Pharaon, Cedar Sea II and more, but what I found most interesting are the advertisements and the new projects list. In volume three it?s said that De Vries has a tender for a 100 meter Feadship (remember, we?re talking 1988 ? 1990 here). Also a 55m 35 knot Feadship ("modern line?) is mentioned. Does anyone know more about these projects?

By the way I have to say that I'm not the owner of the picture of Kingdom 5KR. The picture is copyrighted with my name. I'm sorry for the owner of this picture, but it's an error from the redaction of the mag.

Well, I have received my copy and while I haven't checked thoroughly yet, the top 100 list actually consists of 103 yachts (the last four ones were of exactly the same length). Just like last year, they have published the wrong photo for Lady Marina (showing the 50 m Hakvoort instead) and the picture of Queen M is an artist's rendering showing her with accommodation aft on the lower deck rather than amidship. It is annoying to see the same errors as last year. Besides that it is an excellent issue, in addition to the onboard reports of Ice and Zoom Zoom Zoom there are articles about the Paladin Shadow, the Heywood designed limousine tender for Kogo and a very interesting interview with Tim Heywood.

I have not received my copy yet, but I do hope that the Top 100 list contains less number of errors than last year's list.
