A new Shadow Marine boat has been spotted. Her name is Al Shoua. The info that's floating around the internet about Al Shoua being the shadow boat for Al Mirqab is wrong, she's nothing to do with the Al Mirqab's fleet.

SuRi is launched and nearly delivered. She's finishing her sea trials. The 172ft USV (Unique Support Vessel) is converted to the highest standards. Known to be the supply ship of the yacht JeMaSa, she will be also ready to sail alone, with 3 guests staterooms and an owner suite. You can see her on this picture taken some months ago : http://www.yachtescortships.com/...

Yesterday arrived at Amico an ugly former tug/research vessel, to be converted into a supply boat, the new name is M/Y Sputnik. The job has been commissioned from Dubai.

Yacht Escort Ship (YES) has two shadow vessels under construction in Seattle ship yard, Stabbert Yacht and Ship. The first vessel, Suri (ex Fierce Contender) is scheduled for deliver in December 07 at a 172' of length. The next is the Pacific Provider at 156' of length that will be used as a floating yacht club. The Pacific Provider is due for deliver around April 08.

Allure Shadow was originally built as the offshore supply ship State Belle in 1982 by Bender Shipbuilding of Mobile, Alabama (hull no. 1004). She also changed name several times before acquisition by Shadow Marine. During the conversion the vessel was lengthened by 8,5 metres.

The largest Shadow boat was christened few days ago. Her name is Allure Shadow. With a length of 67 metres and a more sophisticated design, she looks like a real converted yacht. In connection with that, Diane Byrne from PMY said "she's being kept by (...) the owners of Shadow Marine, as their own yacht".

All the specifications and the layout can be found on the official website : http://www.shadowmarine.com
I'm also interested to know more about the original hull used...

Few days ago, a friend told me that there is a connection between Tamsen and Lara. Right side of the Lara logo, he told me, there is written in small fonts, T/T Tamsen! And today, I can confirm at 100% that Lara is the Tamsen supply boat.

Support Yachts seem to be getting more common : Paul Allen interested in M.Y Zein (ex Deo Juvante II), the honeymoon yacht of Prince Rainier and Princess Grace. The best example is Golden Shadow which is currently in the Red Sea with her flagship Golden Odyssey. But will return to Nice in June.

These yachts can be supplied new by Shadow Yachts of Fort Lauderdale, or some old workhorse could be found by London broker John Hughes & Associates (who specializes in ex-government vessels), and converted for new role carrying seaplane, mini-submarine, decompression chamber, polo ponies and other necessities as well as spare people like bodyguards and extra concubines. Maybe Le Grand Bleu is filling this task now?
