Here is a picture of the Pershing Mistral 55. This picture was taken after the end of the Cannes Yacht Show 2008 (no light + strong wind + fast yacht = bad quality for the picture, sorry for that), when she was on way to Monaco.

Attessa moved from tendered to docked at Cabo San Lucas as rough waters at the fringe of tropical depression Douglas continued in the area. No picture but Mr Terrible followed the Attessa to dockside. And Lady D is still anchored.

There was a strong wind off Monaco two weeks ago. Radiant came back from St. Jean Cap Ferrat in a big swell...

Photos from the British Virgin Islands, Jan 2007. MITseaAH seems to love bashing the waves!

MITseaAH was forcing her way through the swell. Compared to other yachts, she sailed very fast in these bad conditions. It was my best moment of spotting since the beginning of the season.

There was a big swell off Monaco on Sunday 27, day of the GP. Here is a picture of Aviva II.

The day before the GP of Monaco was a day with a bad weather (rain, wind, etc...). In these conditions, Aladina sailed around the Cap d'Antibes to reach a more protected area...

Another picture of Montigne, preparing her "takeoff".

The Feadship Montigne crashing her bow in a wave. The yacht did impressive jumps some weeks ago. The picture doesn't give you a good idea, but the swell was deep. Funny to see the three crew members on the main deck, outside, maybe sick...

On Sunday evening there was a sudden storm in the Saronic gulf and Omega was caught in it. Look how this big yacht is listing to starboard from the strong wind... She anchored in Vouliagmeni Bay until the storm passed and left later.

Not a megayacht, but this Mangusta 80 did great jumps off Monaco during the last week-end. There was a strong wind coming from Italy. Poor guests on the foredeck...

Another one. This is a picture of the three-masted Croce del Sud leaving Monaco in July 2002. It was a windy day...

For the moment I only saw two yachts "cutting" the waves, The One and Enigma...

I won't argue against either of You! The weather is bad and the yachts will pitch and roll, despite their stabilizers. You have seen the yachts firsthand, the direction of the waves could not be seen from the photos. I have to add that I am a bit surprised that Blue Shadow C, with her relatively narrow hull did not slice through the waves better, but You always learn something new. Your photos are quite spectacular!

Some old pictures of Heloval. They were taken during her first arrival in Monaco in February 2003.

Don?t know if this pic is adding some value, but it looks like her bow is coming up...

I'm not sure Johan. Blue Shadow and Sakara sailed against the swell. Passion and Ionian Princess were in parallel to the waves. But when Passion left Monaco she was also against the swell, and she did impressive "jumps". Alas she was too far away to take a picture...

As a comment to the picture of Passion and Ionian Princess: the newer kind of stabilization systems with two pair of fins obviously have the effect of keeping the yacht level, as You can see the bows are slightly buried in the wave rather than going up over the wave (like Blue Shadow C). I am not sure we need to feel pity for the guest aboard Passion or Ionian Princess as they quite likely won't become sea-sick thanks to the stabilizers! I feel more sympathy with those aboard Sakara and Blue Shadow C...

After Blue Shadow (read below), the schooner Sakara.

On the 31st July 2005 a storm arose within minutes so all the yachts anchored off Cap Ferrat had to go to the sheltered anchorage of Villefranche which gave me the great opportunity to make some photos of yachts in bad weather.

Few minutes after the arrival of Ionian Princess (read below), Passion left Monaco. She sailed against the swell from the port Hercule to St. Jean Cap Ferrat. It was very impressive to follow that. Poor guests on board...

The weather was strange on the Riviera during the last week-end. There was a lot of wind. The result was an important swell, especially off Monaco. At that time we (me and some fellow spotters) spotted the arrival of Ionian Princess. Her hull is low on water, and sometimes it was totally hidden by the waves...
