Congratulations to Kristian, winner of the contest 2008!

There were many votes for the last day, and Kristian took again the first place few hours before the end.

The second photo contest is finished now. I thank you for your interest. One more time you were very enthusiastic for it. The next edition is already scheduled! This year we did an exception, with the possibility to use photos taken before 2007. For the next edition, only pictures taken in 2008 will be authorized.

Good spotting, good photographs, and rendez-vous in January 2009!

I was trying to get M/Y Ice with lightning in the background, an almost impossible task. The date was 06th July 2006, at 1908, the whole bay of Juan-les-Pins was hit by a really bad squall which you reported in one of the threads. I like the picture because it captures the yacht in a stormy mood.

The Photo Contest is back! The first edition was a great success, we had many entries, and was enjoyed by Spotters and fans alike. The second edition is open, with some new rules...

Most of us are photographers, even if we're not professionals, and usually have a significant collection of photographs.

So I am officially announcing an annual contest between Spotters to judge the best picture of the year. No special criteria, just personal choice. There is nothing to win, just a good moment to share... and of course bragging rights.

The rules are :
- only one picture per Spotter
- a megayacht must be the subject, but it can be a superstructure detail...
- the picture must be sent before February 7, 2008 Midnight UTC+1
- the picture can be optimized, resized, with visual effects, etc...
- the picture can be in color or B&W
- you must give the location, date and circumstance of the photograph
- I encourage you to have a flat horizon...

Each picture will be online when I will receive it. No more picture will be added after February 7, 2008 midnight UTC+1. The vote will be by email, to identify each voter. Only one vote per Spotter, of course it will not be possible for a Spotter to vote for his picture! The voting will be held between the 8th and the 21st February. During this period, pictures will be sorted by their popularity. The most popular will be on the top of the list and arranged in descending order. The definitive results will be online February 22, 2008.

Good Luck!
